Fall

As the heat of summer gives way to cooler temperatures, fall brings dropping highs and gradually increasing rainfall to Naples from September through November. Average maximum temperatures decrease from around 89°F in early fall to 82°F reaching November.

Low temperatures similarly decline with the progression of the season, ranging from roughly 75°F on average in early September down to about 67°F by the end of November. However, the daytime highs in the 80s still allow for comfortable weather to enjoy outdoor activities.

September registers as the wettest month of fall, with approximately 9.1 inches of precipitation on average. But the rainfall often comes in the form of brief passing showers dispersed between plenty of sun. Cooler temperatures paired with moderate rain make fall a perfect time for golfing, fishing, beach days, sightseeing, and more.

From September through November, cloud cover slowly increases across the Naples area, transitioning from mostly sunny skies earlier in the season to more partly cloudy conditions by late fall.

Even with the gradual increase in cloudiness, the percentage of time the sky appears overcast or mostly cloudy only ranges from 38% to 47% in Naples throughout the fall. So, while scattered showers are not uncommon, sunny to mixed sun and clouds remain the predominant forecast.

Packing lightweight layers, you can peel off or add as needed allows you to adapt comfortably to warm afternoons that give way to cooler autumn evenings. Bringing weather-appropriate clothing like stylish rain jackets and umbrellas enables you to take advantage of the sights even during occasional passing showers.

Winter

While winters are mild in Naples compared to many other destinations, December, January, and February bring the coolest weather of the year to this southwest Florida hot spot. Daytime high temperatures average around a comfortable 76°F during the winter months.

Nighttime lows fall to roughly 56°F on average, with some cooler evenings dipping into the 40s on occasion. However, the mostly sunny skies and lack of wind often make it feel pleasantly warmer than the temperature reading would otherwise indicate. This allows for enjoying golfing, shopping, dining al fresco, beach days, and other outdoor activities even during Naples’ “cool” season.

In terms of precipitation, rainfall takes a dip in winter, with just 2.6 inches per month on average – making it the driest time of year. December registers as the wettest of the winter months.

However, the total rainfall remains significantly lower compared to Naples’ humid, tropical wet season. With decreased cloud cover ranging between 47% in early winter down to 35% overcast/mostly cloudy conditions by late winter, sunny skies prevail the majority of the time.

Packing some pairs of long pants, closed-toed shoes, socks, and light sweaters can provide comfort for the occasional cooler winter evening. Visitors may also want to bring a compact rain jacket just in case a passing sprinkle pops up amid the predominately pleasant, dry winter weather.

But with highs in the 70s most days, even in January and February, winter guests are likely to find flip flops and sunscreen more necessities than heavy coats, gloves, or scarves!

Spring

Springtime brings warming temperatures and incrementally increasing precipitation as Naples transitions from its short wintertime into the hot and humid summer season.

During March, April, and May, average high temperatures climb from around 82°F in early spring up to approximately 87°F by the end of May. Low temperatures follow a similar warming pattern, rising from averages of 67°F to 72°F between early March and late May.

The comfortably balmy weather makes spring a popular time to soak up the sun at the beach, hit the links on Naples’ renowned golf courses, or dine al fresco at an outdoor café without facing the stifling heat or humidity of summer.

In terms of rainfall, springtime sees approximately 3.5 inches of precipitation monthly on average. And while passing showers become more likely in the spring compared to the cooler, drier winter months, substantial dry periods still occur between brief rains.

Cloud cover incrementally increases during spring as well, ranging from approximately 35% overcast/partly cloudy skies in early spring to 44% cloudiness by late May. However, the bulk of precipitation typically comes from scattered showers, allowing for plenty of sun mixed amid the increasing chances of rain.

Planning flexible outdoor activities that work well, whether under sunny skies or passing rainstorms, allows visitors to make the most of springtime weather patterns. Packing sundresses, shorts, tank tops, bathing suits, and lightweight layers enable you to comfortably embrace balmier temperatures while still adapting to periods of cooler weather or rainfall.

Bringing weather-appropriate accessories like stylish rain boots, fashionable umbrellas, and sun-shielding hats add to the functionality of your fabulous springtime ensemble.

Summer

During the summer months of June, July, and August, southwest Florida heats up under blazing sun and high humidity. High temperatures hover right around 90°F from June through August. Nighttime lows are approximately 74°F on average, making it perfect for relaxing outdoors or going for a nighttime swim if you’re in one of our Naples rentals with a pool.

Summer also marks Naples’ distinctly tropical rainy season, with nearly 8.3 inches of precipitation on average monthly during the summer. August registers as the wettest month when frequent downpours provide temporary respite from relentless heat and humidity.

Cloud cover peaks in the summer, too, with 56% overcast or mostly cloudy skies in August – Naples’ cloudiest month. However, the bulk of the abundant rainfall typically comes courtesy of brief daytime thunderstorms that provide a refreshingly cooler intermission between steamy blue sky days.

Planning pool days, indoor excursions to museums or malls, and late evening or nighttime entertainment allows visitors to enjoy summer’s slower pace between scorching temperatures and stormy skies.

Opting for highly breathable, lightweight fabrics and dresses keeps you cool and comfortable amid the heat. It’s critical to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water when enjoying time outside. By packing proper attire and creatively scheduling both indoor and open-air activities, you’ll be primed to fully experience the lush tropical essence of a Naples summer.
